Inhalant allergy is the most common culprit, proving to be the cause of about sixty five percent of the disease, but don’t count out contact allergy. Contact allergy is the primary cause for about twenty percent of the cases of reported eczema. Only about five percent of the reported cases are a result of food allergy. However, food can be an important factor in treating eczema.

When your body wants to get rid of something it finds toxic, it uses the skin as a sort of filtering system, which pushes out toxins through your pores. If the toxin causes an allergic reaction, the result is going to be red, dry and irritated skin. But do not let any tell you that the best treatment is simply suppressing your immune response by using a steroid cream. This is actually highly counterproductive to the overall treatment of the disease. Instead, you should be helping your body find other means by which to dispose of these toxins. Of course, diet is a primary way of doing this.
